# Get started with mixus

> Learn how to use mixus to build with AI through the web interface.

Welcome to mixus! This guide will help you get started using our AI platform to enhance your productivity and automate your workflows.

## Before you begin

You will need:

* An **mixus account** - [Sign up](https://app.mixus.ai)
* A modern web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge)

## Start with your first chat

The easiest way to get started with mixus is through our web interface. Let's create your first AI conversation:

1. **Log in** to your mixus account at [mixus.ai](https://app.mixus.ai)
2. **Click "New Chat"** to start a conversation
3. **Choose an AI model** from the dropdown (recommended: use our default model for beginners)
4. **Ask a question** to get started

### Example first question

```text theme={null}
Why is the ocean salty?
```

You'll see a comprehensive response explaining the natural processes that make ocean water salty, including:

1. **Weathering of rocks**: Rain contains dissolved carbon dioxide, making it slightly acidic. This acidic rainwater erodes rocks on land, dissolving minerals including salts. Rivers carry these dissolved minerals to the ocean.

2. **Underwater volcanic activity**: Hydrothermal vents and underwater volcanoes release minerals directly into ocean water.

3. **Evaporation**: When ocean water evaporates, pure water vapor rises, leaving salts behind. This concentrates the salt content over millions of years.

4. **Limited salt removal**: Unlike fresh water systems, oceans have few outlets. Salt accumulates because there's no significant way for it to leave the ocean system.

## Upload files for analysis

One of mixus's most powerful features is analyzing your documents. Try uploading a file:

1. **Click the attachment button** (📎) in the chat interface
2. **Select a document** (PDF, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
3. **Ask questions** about the document content

### Example file analysis

After uploading a document, you could ask:

```text theme={null}
Can you summarize the key points from this document?
```

## Create your first AI agent

AI agents can automate tasks and workflows. Here's how to create one:

1. **Go to the Agents section** in your mixus dashboard

3. **Give your agent a name** and description
4. **Set up instructions** for what the agent should do
5. **Configure any integrations** your agent needs
6. **Save and run** your agent
